What is a technical rider and why I need one?

A technical rider is a document that outlines the technical requirements for a performance. It is typically written by the artist or their production team, and it is given to the venue or promoter in advance of the show. The technical rider will typically include information about the following:

  • The type of equipment that the artist will need, including stage size, lighting, sound, and video requirements.
  • The power requirements for the equipment.
  • The acoustic properties of the venue.
  • Any special requests that the artist may have, such as a specific type of microphone or a particular brand of lighting.

The technical rider is an important document that ensures that the artist’s performance will be technically sound. It also helps to avoid any last-minute surprises or problems.

  • They are typically written in a clear and concise format, and they should be easy to understand for both the artist and the venue.
  • The technical rider should be updated whenever there are any changes to the artist’s requirements.
  • The artist or their production team should always have a copy of the technical rider with them at the show

Technical riders are an essential part of the live entertainment industry.
